The Business School Approach to Writing Your Novel

The biggest hurdles in writing a novel are in the creation of a plot and characters.  This manual adapts the Business School Case-Study methodology to overcoming the problems.  It uses a case-study approach first to devise a plot by brainstorming ideas from a group and then uses the same approach to developing strong, lifelike characters.  After that, it discusses the logical approach to controlling events, people and objects so that silly mistakes don't happen, such as characters changing names mid-story and to ensuring that the writer can always see the development and direction of the story.  This methodology was used to great success with "The Mickie Dalton Trilogy" with High-School students and with several books developed with primary schools, with seniors' writing classes and others.  The Second Edition now includes sections describing the key requirements for Detective Mysteries, Thrillers, Sci-Fi, Romance and Childrens Books with diagrams illustrating the essential structures of each genre.
